The number of professionals who have obtained a TOGAF 9 certificate has surpassed 80.000. This with representatives from 139 different countries, with more than 10.000 certifications taking place in the past year. The Netherlands is even in the top 5, with 5730 certified professionals. TOGAF, short for The Open Group Architecture Framework, is an open and vendor-independent method for managing and developing Enterprise Architectures. TOGAF 9 is built around the process model (the core of TOGAF) with supporting concepts, these core and concepts are:
- Enterprise Capability Framework - Describes the organizational aspects of the architecture lifecycle, such as governance, management, and organizational capabilities related to people and technology.
- Architecture Development Method - The core of TOGAF that describes the life cycle of an architecture in phases and process steps;
- ADM Guidelines & Techniques - Supports the ADM and describes specific techniques and guidelines that can be applied within or across the ADM.
- Enterprise Continuum & Tools - Describes the internal administration of architecture assets, such as the structure and setup, and management of an architecture repository. A key element is the creation of an architecture landscape, which in turn describes the context of agreements and methods.
- Architecture Content Framework - Describes the deliverables generated by the ADM. A deliverable is a formal outcome of a step or phase and consists of building blocks and artifacts.
- TOGAF Reference Models - Describes the structure and application of the two TOGAF reference models, namely; Technical Reference Model (TRM) and Integrated Information Infrastructure Reference Model (III-RM).
