To achieve this, current management models, process and information models and the structure and direction they provide when conducting interviews, conducting workshops and ensuring proper reporting are discussed. In all of this, the goal, a successful BI implementation, is kept in mind.
A thorough information analysis is the basis for a successful BI implementation. However, Business Intelligence differs from regular application development on a number of points. Business Intelligence provides grip and control on data, information and insight through data warehouses and other information products. The information need, but also the resulting information products such as data warehouses, reports and analytical applications are constantly changing as a result of changes in business processes. The general methodologies for information analysis are then not sufficiently equipped to deal with this constant change in the need for data, information and insight: they often start from fixed preconditions and are focused on functionality instead of providing data, information and insight.
