Introducing Tmap Suite Test Engineer
The TMap suite of certifications provides training, assessment and certification in areas such as test management, test design and analysis, requirements engineering and quality assurance. These qualifications are intended for people who have some experience working as a tester or analyst, but are not yet The TMAP Suite Test Engineer certification is offered by the Test Management Association for Professionals (TMap) abroad and is intended for people who are interested in becoming a test engineer. Tmap is also better known as Test Management Approach.

Test Engineers are responsible for designing, developing, implementing and executing test cases. They create test plans, determine which tests to run, run the tests, and analyze the results. They also maintain test plans, prepare reports on testing progress, and make changes to test cases based on stakeholder feedback.

ISTQB Foundation training
During the ISTQB Foundation course you will get the standard certification for software testers worldwide. The Foundation Certificate in Software Testing is a globally recognized certificate that demonstrates a tester's knowledge of testing principles and practices. The certificate can be obtained through self-study or by completing an ISTQB accredited training course.
Earning the Software Testing Foundation Certificate will give you the following:
- A sound knowledge of basic concepts and terminology for software testing, such as test case design, test execution and defect analysis;
- Knowledge of creating test cases for manual testing;
- Understanding how to create test cases for automated testing;
- Familiarity with different types of defects and their underlying causes;
- Knowledge about techniques to evaluate quality during the development life cycle
Differences between ISTQB Foundation and the Tmap Suite Test Engineer / tmap vs ISTQB
As it may have become clear to you, there are relatively few substantive differences between the 2 modules and there are mainly many similarities. Only the popularity can differ slightly, Tmap is more popular than in the Netherlands.
Listing some differences of Tmap from ISTQB:
- Tmap is also given in Dutch, while the preference for the ISTQB is English.
- Tmap is known in only countries.
- Tmap goes a little less deep.
- Tmap is even more widely accepted in the Netherlands.
- Tmap is less independent because it was developed by Sogeti.
